Hey guys. Now that spring has sprung I need a new lawnmower. My current mower is a self propelled Craftsmen and I've had it for about 11 years. In that time I have replaced many components from cables, to blades, to wheels, to rip chord, etc. It's time to put it to rest so I'm looking for suggestions for a replacement.
What mowers out there are decent? I'm looking to spend $400-$600 tops. Slef propelled, bagger, mulcher, to cut your average postage stamp size lot in the burbs. -------------------- Riding Area: Houghton Lake, Grayling, Newberry - - - - - Member of the MSA

Can't go wrong with a Honda.
They cut very good. Parts are not too expensive. They last forever. We were given the mower my wife grew up with, a Honda. We used it for a couple years and gave it to someone else, still ran very good and the parts were still readily available at the local dealer. They make a really cool one that can do different combinations of mulching and bagging at the same time. Go look at Home Depot, they had the same thing as the dealer when we bought ours. |

Hmmmm Honda eh?
I have heard great things about em. The HRX series looks pretty cool and they come with a 6 year warranty. I'll have to look them over at Home Depot. -------------------- Riding Area: Houghton Lake, Grayling, Newberry - - - - - Member of the MSA

Well if you were looking for a riding mower, my neighbor just inherited his dads mower, but I doubt that you need a newer Craftsmen 46 inch cut 16.5 hp mower to do a postage stamp size yard.
-------------------- Mi sound testing procedure for snowmobiles.
Jan. 2004 SAE J2567 stationary test overview: The sound meter microphone is placed 4 feet above the ground, inline with the exhaust outlet/center point of multiple exhaust outlets, on the side of the snowmobile toward which the exhaust is directed, 4 meters distance from the snowmobile longitudinal centerline. The operator holds the brake during the test, starts and runs the engine up to normal operating temperature, then slowly opens the throttle until a steady 3,750 to 4,000 rpm is achieved for not less than 4 seconds. The test is immediately repeated and the two readings averaged. The Mi max allowable limit is 88 dB's. |

Ha yeah, that would be the way to do it. 3 swipes and I'm done. Went to HD to look at the Hondas. They look pretty nice but they put them on a shelf 5ft in the air so you can't even touch em. Think I'm gonna swing by Weingartz this week so I can get up close and kick the tires. -------------------- Riding Area: Houghton Lake, Grayling, Newberry - - - - - Member of the MSA

Any feedback on TORO's?
This one rates higher than the Honda HRX in Consumer Reports. http://www.toro.com/home/mowers/recycler/20333.html -------------------- Riding Area: Houghton Lake, Grayling, Newberry - - - - - Member of the MSA
